Hey everyone!
If you don’t know me already, my name is Ellie and I am a junior in Taylor’s professional writing program. Over the past two (ish) years, I have had the privilege of running the professional writing blog and social media as the PWR secretary.
In this role I’ve had the chance to get hands on with the department, interacting with alumni and highlighting the incredible things our department is doing.
I’ve written posts for our blog and designed promo material for our Instagram. I’ve loved getting to be doing the background work in our department to showcase what we’re all about.
Next year I will be starting a new on-campus job and my friend and fellow pro-write, Katie Pfotzer will be taking over all things PWR!
I asked her a few questions so that you all could get to know her better:
Q: What is your favorite book to read or genre to write?
A: I love nonfiction and thriller/mystery. I also write a little bit of humor. What can I say, I’m a renaissance woman?
Q: What blog post topics are you really excited to write about?
A: How to conduct a great interview, how to write dialogue, how to find inspiration for your pieces, how to defeat writer’s block, you have an idea—now what?
Q: How much do you love the PWR department?
A: This department is like the quirky neighborhood kids I always wanted to be friends with. They are the most creative, funny, interesting people. I love that they are always down for an adventure or a writing party or a Phineas and Ferb viewing session. I have made so many incredible memories here with these people.
Q: Fun fact about yourself?
A: I have won two hula hooping competitions.
Q: Best writing advice you’ve ever gotten?
A: Read more, write more. This advice may sound like someone giving you a hard time, but it really is the best way to become a better writer.
Our blog and social media will be taking a bit of a summer hiatus as we go our separate ways for the next few months, but Katie will get us back in the full swing of things in August!
Make sure to follow us to keep track of what the PWRs are up to!
