PWR major hosts 9th annual Professional Writers Conference

You’re invited to the Taylor University Professional Writers Conference this summer, July 25-26, 2025, right on Taylor University’s beautiful campus. Check out www.tupwc.com.

The Professional Writing major at Taylor University is well known for its ability to train future writers, editors, and publishing professionals. Nine years ago, Prof. Linda Taylor, assistant professor of Professional Writing, decided that hosting a writing conference would be a natural extension to what is already an excellent program. The conference was born, and it has proven to be both well needed and well received.

In fact, the staff who faithfully serve at the conference are Professional Writing majors and alumni (and sometimes a few friends who can’t resist our charms!).

This conference is for all types of writers—beginners who have never been to a conference, teens (16+) who want to explore their desire to write, older folks who finally want to put pen to paper, and even seasoned writers who just want to soak in some training and be around other writers. This is a perfect conference to begin or continue your writing journey.

Our conference staff in 2024 (L to R): Elizabeth Molitor, Jared Salomon, Sadie Miller, Charis Negley, Laurel Burgess, Lilia Snyder, Sarah Lozier, Elise Brandon, Esther Brandle

Just $139 gets you two days of sessions, dinner on Friday, breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and at least one-on-one session with a faculty member of your choice, plus social media help if you want it. There are “find your tribe” gatherings, an open mic night, contests, and so much more. Housing is available on campus for an extra charge.

We have authors, editors, literary agents, and social media specialists ready to help you. For a full list of faculty, see the Faculty page on the conference website.

BUT WAIT! There’s more! Prior to the general conference, on July 24-25, we are offering TWO pre-conference Tracks: (1) Writing with Deep POV and Writing Your Book Proposal; (2) Comics Unlocked! taught by TU students and comic lovers Caleb Heffron and Contessa Hussong.
